Memory #56

From 2022

I remember… I like the smell of lavender, my perfume Charlie, and my favourite food is jacket potato with cheese & beans

Memory #57

I remember… My wife was expecting our second child. We had to go to the hospital halfway through TV. We rushed into the maternity unit, we rushed to the delivery room and they said “put on a gown you’ll need it”. From leaving home, the first was 7 minutes later!

Memory #58

From Early 2020s

I remember… I had 2 weeks in hospital with coronavirus. There was a man in the bed opposite … A retired policeman (who was also in the ward) said “that man there, be quiet!” and then he was!

Memory #59

From 1994

I remember… having my first baby in July 1994 by elective caesarean. I was unable to sleep that evening due to the excitement of finally meeting my beautiful baby, so I put on earphones to listen to the radio, the song playing was “Lucky You” by the Lighting Seeds. I remember thinking Yes, I am really lucky

Memory #60

I remember… being Overheated!

Memory #35

From 2007

I remember… The renal ward was an open ward – everyone talked to each other & made friends. It wasn’t ‘noise’.

Memory #40

From 2019

I remember… The voice of a Canadian student nurse, who I joked around with – was in hospital for 2 weeks.

Memory #39

I remember… Goosebumps on my arms as cool sterile air blew past me. Curiosity matched with anxiety as I rush down endless angular corridors. Smells like stale bleach. People are either nice or miserable.

Memory #38

I remember… Feeling nauseous, dizzy, as though I was about to faint, feeling scared, loud noises, people talking, machines beeping, feeling confused, cold. But also feeling as though I was safe regardless of the negative feelings & emotions.

Memory #37

I remember… Antiseptic smell, voices, difference in lighting, some people rushing around, some more relaxed, telephones, equipment sounds

Memory #36

From 2007

I remember… The smells mainly … cleanliness, cleaning products … The way the staff tried to calm people, very supportive, the way they talked and behaved, caring body language as well as professional, to the whole family (as a visitor to someone who was dying).

Memory #34

From 2019

I remember… The food – every day cheese toasties, stir fry, potatoes. My friend said you should leave that hospital! But the hospital was nicer than what I eat now because someone cooked it for me!
